A total of four teams from Europe and North America have made their way through the first open qualifier of the ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup.
The first of two open qualifiers for the Challenger Cup featured a single-elimination bracket with the initial matches played in a best-of-one, while the quarterfinals and semifinals were best-of-threes — with a total of 351 teams signed up, but only two slots up for grabs from each region.
The European side saw likes of Imperial, Fragsters, and Windigo fall in the initial best-of-one games, while ENCE and Spirit's run fell short in the quarterfinals. LDLC and Epsilon eventually paved their way through to the semifinals, before taking down Royal Bandits and Lyngby Vikings to be the first two teams through to the European Challenger Cup.

Across the pond, the South Africans of Bravado were the first team out of the North American qualifier to secure their slot after sweeping past lmfao and BlackOut.
Swole Patrol and Gorilla Gang then clashed in the quarterfinals, where Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir and his men were swept 0-2. Victor "food" Wong and co. eventually secured their slot in the North America Challenger Cup in a three-map final bout against Infamous.
With the first qualifiers from Europe and North American now in the books, one more open qualifier still remains — set to run from September 22-23 — to determine the next two teams from each region, with the invites yet to be announced.
The ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup runs from September 27-30 and will feature eight teams in both Europe and North America, with two spots in ECS Season 6 from each region on the line.
